Why can’t I change the dates on Child Tasks?

If you have a set of tasks with a Parent-Child relationship and the Parent task is linked to a Predecessor, the child tasks will be constrained and you will not be able to change the dates. Rather than linking to the Parent task, link to the first Child task in the set in order to avoid this issue.

Select the checkboxes for the tasks to be designated as Child tasks. Click the blue right-arrow icon in the toolbar to indent tasks and create the Parent-Child relationship. The Parent task will be bolded and each column on the Parent row will display a summary roll-up of all the Child tasks.

Please note, once a task is designated as a Parent, the summary values are not editable, and appear grayed out. The Parent task shows information such as the date range for all Child tasks, and the the overall percentage of task completion for the Child tasks.

Who can access my Template?

Jul 20, 2012 12:58:19 AM / by admin posted in FAQ

You can create as many Templates as you need. Anyone listed as a Resource on the template, with “Observer” access rights or higher, will be able to use the template.

When a new project is created based on a Template, the New Project Wizard allows users to “Import Resources.” The user can import all Resources listed on the Template or just those Resources assigned to tasks on the project.

If your template includes place-holders which are assigned tasks, the user simply needs to go to the list of Resources and replace the placeholder name and email with the name and email address of the actual person who will be assigned to those tasks when a new Project is created. The Task list will automatically display the new name in the Assignments list.
